Your Health eCard is delivered to you with full details of the simple steps and security measures you will need to get up and running. And, of course, we have a dedicated Support area on this website for any questions you may have (see the Support Button on the top of this page).

Remember, your Health eCard is readable on any personal computer or laptop running Windows (Windows XP or later), anywhere and at anytime.  All you have to do is plug it into the USB port, type in your pass-phrase and your records will appear at the click of the button in a user-friendly format.

Your 6 step guide to setting up your Health eCard
  1. When you receive your Health eCard, slot the flip-out usb connector into your computer port and enter your own secure pass-phrase (a pass-phrase is longer than a password and adds another level of security).

  1. Phone and make an appointment with your Practice – Don’t forget to take your passport or photo driving licence with you. Once the Practice has positively identified you they can download a copy of your medical records onto your Health eCard.

  1. Once you have completed the download at the GP Practice, simply plug your Health eCard into any PC or Laptop USB port to view your medical records, (the USB ports are located on the side or back of your PC and have the USB logo next to them. Most PCs have a number of USB ports and you can use any one that is free).

  1. Ask your GP Practice to update your Health eCard after each visit to the doctor or nurse. Keeping your records up-to-date is important. You will only need your identification documents the first time your records are downloaded.

  1. Add X-rays, mammograms or any other digital images produced by a hospital or diagnostic centre.

  1. Make sure you have your Health eCard with you at all times – you never know when you – or an authorised medical practitioner, such as a hospital consultant - might need to see your medical records.
The Health eCard and associated flip card are registered designs and various international patents exist or have been applied for.
